Dr. Steven Acker, DDS

Dr. Steven Acker has been practicing in Staten Island, NY since 1989. He now practices at Richmond Hill Dental Design Studio. His practice is centered around health and wellness and is focused on airway health and total body wellness. He has also lectured extensively nationally and internationally. He has served as an attending doctor at The Brookdale Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY since 1982.

Dr. Acker is a Clinical Instructor, Scientific Advisor, and Adjunctive Faculty in Airway and a past Advisory Board Member at the prestigious Kois Center for Clinical Excellence in Seattle, Washington. He studied under Dr. John Kois, one of the foremost dental educators in the world.

He has created and teaches a three-day course at the Kois Center titled “Dental Management of the Airway Compromised Patient: A New Perspective.”

He is also a graduate of the Misch Dental Implant Institute. Dr. Acker serves as a Board Member of the Pediatric and Adult Airway Network of New York (PAANNY), providing a local platform where dentists, physicians, orofacial myologists, and other related professionals learn and collaborate on treatment for patients of all ages.

Dr. Acker is a member of the American Academy of Physiological Medicine and Dentistry, the Wellness Dentistry Network, and the American Dental Association.

His passion for the science and art of dentistry—and his belief that dentistry plays a major role in overall wellness—is what drives his commitment to staying at the forefront of professional developments.

Dr. Acker believes that airway-focused dentists should be the quarterbacks of an interdisciplinary team of physicians, dentists, and other allied health professionals who understand the structure, function, and behavior of the airway and breathing. He lectures throughout the United States and internationally on airway-related care for dentists and allied health professionals.
